MultiVersus Officially Goes in Open Beta

Like, zoinks! It's LeBron James!

Not content with its last major crossover game, Lego Dimensions back in 2015, WB Games has decided to pit its major IPs against themselves in MultiVersus, a free-to-play fighting game similar to Super Smash Bros. but with a more... cartoony art style to blend in with its variety of playable characters.

Early Access was available last week, with players either buying the Founder's Pack or getting the Twitch drop from verified streamers. Already, MultiVersus has seen acclaim in its fun gameplay and potentially being the first true competitor to Smash Bros. I've had the past week to try the beta and let me tell you, flutter kicking Iron Giant as Shaggy is hilarious.

The official beta's release also includes the addition of LeBron James.

Unfortunately, the character isn't voiced by the real LeBron, instead by John Bentley. Even still, the magic in the characters' dialogue with one another elevates the game to very nostalgic levels.

Multiversus is a very chaotic yet fun game with incredible potential when it inevitably harnesses the rest of Warner Bros.' IP (I'm looking at you, Ben 10). With official release on the way sometime this year, along with Rick and Morty coming in season 1, it seems the fighting game scene is about to get a lot more interesting.
