AMD Reveals Noise Suppression Tech after Leaking it

Why even bother remove leaks?

After accidentally leaking their own reveal, AMD has finally 'revealed' their AI powered noise-suppressing tech in a new driver update, which also includes other improvements shown later on the article. AMD Noise Suppression is a tool available on all compatible GPUs to enhance the audio both from input and output, similar to Nvidia's RTX Voice found on... RTX GPUs.

AMD NS (short for Noise Suppression) is currently available in the settings icon on AMD Software, under Audio and Video. Select your input and output devices, then, on any other program, select 'AMD Streaming Audio Device' and enjoy better quality audio on both ends.* AMD NS is available now for any machine running Ryzen 5000 or newer, and RX 6000 or newer.

AMD Software's new update also improves OpenGL performance on RX GPUs. For games like Minecraft and DOOM (2016), this means better performance out of your existing GPU. AMD claims improvements of up to 85% or more on OpenGL-supported games.

Remember to do your homework. Not all games run on OpenGL and thus most do not benefit from this update.

Other updates include support for RSR on AMD notebooks with hybrid graphics, borderless fullscreen games on RSR, and more games with access to Radeon Boost, which automatically manages the game's resolution in real time to provide a higher framerate. The list now includes:

  • VALORANT

  • Elden Ring

  • Resident Evil Village

If you have an RX GPU, make sure AMD Software is updated to the latest version to enjoy all these new features and more. To learn more about this update, click here to visit AMD's blog.
